Stage 1: A young brand called Propaska
Established in 2022, after returning from Timor-Leste, the founder registered the domain name of propaska.com, and emerged himself into cross-border eCommerce business. At first, he wanted to start a business about print on demand mode, because these kinds of products are unique.
Stage 2: Working in an Amazon-amphesized eCommerce company
Since August 22nd, 2022, the founder has been working for an eCommerce company that operates similarly to Amazon. This company allows different sellers to sell their own products under the company’s registered brand. By opening its logistics channels and funds to the sellers, the company can earn a certain amount of commission from each seller.
However, when it comes to its Shopify store, it is not feasible to apply the same business model used by Amazon sellers. This is because the basic operational logic of running a Shopify store has changed. Instead, sellers should focus more on a niche market.
Stage 3: Company’s brand got banned on Amazon due to uncertain reasons
Since February 2023, during the Spring Festival in China, the company’s brand has been banned on Amazon. The brand name is exactly the same as the domain name of the Shopify store. As a result, the boss decided to stop running the Shopify store since the brand has also been banned on Amazon, leading to a significant decrease in traffic for the Shopify store.
Therefore, the boss has decided to focus more on the Amazon store, which is more important than the Shopify store.
Stage 3: Re-focus on propaska.com
The company’s HR tells the founder to leave because of the changing of business plan of not running Shopify store anymore. Then, the founder decides to re-focus on existing domain name propaska.com again. This is the exact phase of development.

Why Propaska?
“Prop” is the core business of propaska, and it is the main keyword as well. From this core word, customers can see what kind of business or products this website are selling. However, this is not the most important part. So, let’s focus more on the suffix of “aska”.
“Aska” derives from “Araska” which is an interjection in Tetun, on of the two official languages in Timor-Leste. “Araska” is a complex expression of combinations of “my word!”, “I am fucked”, “I can do nothing about it”, “let it be so”, “helpless”, etc. The name is forged based personal expeirence in Timor-Leste.
